Membership & Culture

Eligibility

Membership shall be open to individuals who:

• Are at least eighteen (18) years of age
• Believe in the principles and values of the Movement
• Demonstrate good character and responsible citizenship
• Agree to uphold the Constitution, Handbook, and Code of Conduct of the Movement
• Are willing to contribute positively to society and support the objectives of the Movement.

The Movement reserves the right to reject, suspend, or terminate any membership application or membership status where there is reasonable evidence that the individual's conduct is inconsistent with the values, principles, or objectives of the Movement.

Categories of Membership

Student Members

Young persons enrolled in educational institutions who desire to learn, grow, and contribute to society through the ideals of the Movement.

Regular Members

Individuals who subscribe to the vision and objectives of the Movement and actively participate in its activities and programmes.

Professional Members

Individuals possessing recognized professional qualifications, leadership experience, specialized expertise, or notable achievements in their chosen fields.

Diaspora Members

Nigerians and friends of Nigeria residing outside the country who desire to support and participate in the activities and objectives of the Movement.

Honorary Members

Individuals of exceptional character, achievement, or service who are recognized and admitted by the Movement in recognition of their contribution to society.

Institutional Partners

Organizations, institutions, associations, and corporate entities that support the vision, programmes, and objectives of the Movement through partnership arrangements.

Rights of Members

Every member shall have the right to:

• Participate in Movement activities and programmes
• Attend meetings and approved events
• Access training, mentorship, and leadership development opportunities
• Contribute ideas, proposals, and recommendations
• Vote where applicable
• Contest eligible leadership positions subject to established criteria
• Receive information concerning the activities of the Movement
• Be treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.

No member shall be discriminated against on the basis of ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, social status, region, or political opinion.

Responsibilities of Members

Members shall:

• Uphold the values and principles of the Movement
• Conduct themselves honourably at all times
• Promote peace, unity, and responsible citizenship
• Participate actively in approved programmes and initiatives
• Support Movement projects and activities
• Respect constituted authority and established procedures
• Pay approved dues and contributions where applicable
• Serve as ambassadors of the Movement within their communities and spheres of influence.

Membership shall be measured not merely by registration but by active participation and contribution.

Membership Admission Process

1. Expression of Interest: Prospective members shall indicate their desire to join through approved channels.
2. Registration: Applicants shall complete the prescribed registration process and provide required information.
3. Orientation: Applicants shall participate in an orientation programme introducing them to the vision, mission, values, culture, structure, and expectations of the Movement.
4. Acceptance of the Declaration and Pledge: Applicants shall formally affirm their commitment to the ideals of the Movement.
5. Formal Induction: Applicants shall be formally admitted as members through an approved induction process.

Membership Records

The Movement shall maintain accurate and secure records of all members. Such records may include:

• Personal information
• Chapter affiliation
• Membership category
• Participation history
• Leadership history
• Contributions and dues records.

Membership information shall be treated with appropriate confidentiality and managed in accordance with applicable laws and policies.

Suspension, Resignation, and Reinstatement

Suspension

A member may be suspended for conduct that violates the values, principles, policies, or disciplinary provisions of the Movement.

Resignation

A member may voluntarily resign membership by providing written notice to the appropriate chapter leadership.

Reinstatement

A former member whose resignation, suspension, or disciplinary matter has been resolved may apply for reinstatement subject to approval by the appropriate authority.

Membership Journey

The Movement views membership as a developmental journey rather than a registration exercise.

Awareness → Registration → Orientation → Induction → Participation → Service → Leadership → Mentorship

Members are encouraged to continually grow in knowledge, responsibility, service, and leadership.

Membership Dues

Membership dues shall serve as a mechanism for ownership, sustainability, accountability, and grassroots empowerment. Approved membership contributions shall be as prescribed under the Funding & Sustainability Framework of the Movement.

Failure to pay approved dues without reasonable justification may affect eligibility for certain leadership positions or privileges as determined by policy.
